• Primary Region(s): Primorska (exclusively in the Vipava Valley).

• The Grape & Its Cultivation: The name literally means "green," and it is another hyper-local treasure of the Vipava Valley. It is a low-yielding variety, making it less commercially viable for many, but those who cultivate it are rewarded with a truly unique wine.

• Winemaking & Styles: Almost always made as a dry white wine, often with a day or two of skin contact to enhance its aromatic profile and texture.

• Tasting Profile: Zelen is distinctly aromatic, with a captivating and unique profile of Mediterranean herbs (like sage and bay leaf), green apple, and pear. It is crisp, light, and utterly expressive of its home.
